Warrior Apothecary: Local Apothecary and Perfumery, is made with sustainably made concoctions to help relieve physical and mental ailments. Health and uniqueness being top priority; products, displays, and ingredients that are quite Magickal and somewhat otherworldly. It's all made with 100% Vegan, synthetic and nut free ingredients. Partial proceeds of sales will be going back to the community (Pride, Indigenous awareness, mental health fundraisers, etc). April, the creative behind Warrior Apothecary, started making healing concoctions in 2008 and will be joining us as a new vendor (WOOHOO!!) for the November weekend of our fair! You can find Warrior Apothecary on instagram at (@warriorapothecary) and read on down below to see how they respond to our Q&A:
Q: What does it mean to be an Edmonton maker/designer/artist?
WA: It means getting to know locals who want to see and be the change in the world by shopping local, sustainability, vegan/vegetarianism, and mental health awareness. We have a great, supportive community for this!
Q: What are your top 3 influences (artists, things, etc)?
WA: My clients that live with mental health issues daily, yet work so hard to get help and create a life worth living. They show me endurance and strength and push me to create high quality products for them. I am inspired by so many of the stories they share with me. Nature: Wildcrafting my own ingredients in the river valley and on Vancouver Island, and creating products in the full moon for an added spiritual energy. And unique aromas: Many of my products (especially perfume) are created with scents globally inspired. An oil used traditionally elsewhere in the world that I may not even be able to pronounce at first, keeps my creative juices flowing, opening up endless possibilities!
Q: Favourite Bison item you’ve picked up at a previous fair?
WA: There are so many amazing, unique vendors! My absolute favourite are the natural loose incenses hand made by The Witchery; and I know I’ll be taking home at least 2 pieces by Femmebroidery!
